PokerStars Sticks Up for Ukraine

Alexander Liam

Such giants as Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, and Starbucks suspend all their operations in Russia. PokerStars also joined that team of companies with a conscience yesterday, on the 9th of March, 2022. This move by the most famous online poker cardroom was made due to a desire to ensure its reputation and to support Ukraine. A fast-growing list of businesses that have suspended all operations in Russia is growing yearly, and for sure, we will see a lot of brands and individuals joining this list shortly.

Most followers on different social networking sites came to the defense of PokerStars for its decision and voiced support for their favorite online poker cardroom. One guy on the web even suggested banning players from Belarus.

The European Poker Tour (EPT) under the auspices of PokerStars was scheduled for March 18-27 in Sochi, Russia, but it also was canceled along with dozens of sports and intellectual competitions.

Alongside McDonald’s, Starbucks, and Coca-Cola, General Motors, Volkswagen, Toyota, and Nissan also exited the Russian market. Thousands of people who used to work for these companies are going to lose their jobs in a while.

Russia even uses the entertainment sphere. Netflix, Spotify, Walt Disney, Universal Pictures, WarnerBrothers, and Sony Pictures have already left Putin’s territory. Visa, Mastercard, and Microsoft are also on the list of businesses halting operations in Russia.

The main purpose of such great solidarity of companies is to send a message to Putin’s regime that they preach down the violation of the Ukrainian boundary and the unleashing of the war on its territory.
